Nursing and Healing

The Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN) program at Legacy College is a comprehensive three-year course designed to develop proficient community health nurses. Our curriculum, regulated by the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK), blends theoretical knowledge with practical skills, covering essential subjects such as anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, community health, maternal and child health, as well as mental health nursing and nursing research. Students also receive training in communication, leadership and management, ensuring they are well-equipped for diverse healthcare environments.

Betty

Betty had long known her purpose was to uplift women and girls in their health care in rural areas of Kenya. As a learner, Betty joined Legacy College with an unparalleled dedication to diving into her academic books, practical training in the hospitals and relationships with faculty and learners. During her time at the School of Nursing, she built her reputation for her dedication to her studies and to community service. Outside class, Betty was a talented singer, always singing her heart out whenever she got a chance.

Betty had a desire to make a difference in the lives of those who need medical care, and her compassion was clear during each of her clinical rotations. She was a natural mentor to her peers, always willing to lend a helping hand to those who needed it.

Today, Betty is fulfilling her dream as a resident nurse at a high school in Kericho County. Her role allows her to provide essential healthcare services to students, ensuring they are healthy and ready to focus on their education. This depicts her passion and commitment to nursing, and she takes great pride in knowing that she is making a difference in the lives of the young people in her community.
